Amex Platinum Global Dining Credit – Complete Guide

How the benefit works and how to use it, market by market.

The American Express Platinum Global Dining Credit is a statement-credit benefit that reimburses Platinum cardholders when they dine at a curated list of restaurants around the world. Unlike most card credits it is global: eligible restaurants exist across 14 markets, from London to Tokyo-adjacent Hong Kong.

How the benefit works

  1. Enrol. Check your Amex account — in most markets the benefit auto-enrols with the card.
  2. Pick a participating restaurant. Use our interactive map to see every venue in your city.
  3. Pay with the enrolled Platinum Card. No coupon, no code — the credit is triggered by the card swipe.
  4. Wait for the statement credit, typically within one to two billing cycles.

Where it works

We track the current 14 markets: United States, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand. Each market publishes its own restaurant list; we aggregate them so you can search across borders when you travel.

Tips for maximising the credit

  • Plan your trip around the map. Filter the map by the country you're visiting to slot dinners into your itinerary.
  • Book direct or via Resy. Reservations are recommended at high-demand venues — some are Resy-priority.
  • Split large bills correctly. The credit applies to the card that pays; make sure the Platinum is the one settling the bill.
  • Watch the calendar. Credits reset on a schedule set by your local issuer — don't leave them on the table.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to book through Resy to qualify?

Not usually. The credit triggers when you pay with the enrolled Platinum Card at a participating restaurant. Some markets recommend Resy for a smoother booking experience but it isn't required for the credit.

Can I use the credit on drinks, tips or private events?

Generally yes for food and beverage on a normal check. Private events and gift cards are typically excluded — always confirm with the restaurant before the event.

Does the credit work when I'm travelling abroad?

Yes — that's what makes it "Global." Any participating restaurant in any of the 14 markets qualifies, regardless of where your card was issued (subject to your issuer's terms).
